6/24/2004 - Small Press Idol Update

The Small Press Idol competition is in its final round over at the SPA website. Although BorderWalker's Chris Watkins decided to withdraw from the competition for reasons of time, there are still several comics in the running for the crown. You can pop over to dimestoreproductions.com/vote/Round4.asp to cast your vote. Folks interested in Chris's entry, tentatively titled Hoax, can check out the colored image and story preview in our forums, and should keep an eye out for future news about Hoax-related developments!

6/18/2004 - Riddick: Dark Fury Contest

Dark Fury! If you dig very cool animation--like the stuff Peter Chung, creator of Aeon Flux does--or if you liked the Vin Diesel flicks Pitch Black & Chronicles of Riddick (or if you just like sci-fi & fantasy, that's good too), we've got a contest coming up next week that you should keep an eye out for! The PR group for Universal has provided us with an awesome prize package, including the brand spankin'-new Peter Chung-directed cartoon Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury on DVD, plus a copy of Pitch Black on DVD, and some other neat stuff. We're going to be giving that away in a contest starting next Friday (6/25) so come back for the details--and a very cool announcement about BorderWalker too!

6/7/2004 - 24-Hour Comics Day Highlights in San-Diego

For all the folks out on the West Coast who may be planning on hitting the San-Diego Comic Con, here's some news of note from Nat Gertler at About Comics:
"Barring any unforseen problems, we will have copies of the 24 Hour Comics Day Highlights 2004 book at Comic-Con International San Diego, July 22-25. If you're at the con, be sure to stop by the About Comics booth, say hi, maybe even [get a copy signed].
We're -probably- going to do a panel on 24 hour comics, with Scott McCloud and I on the panel. [We may have] a couple of folks who have taken the 24 hour comics challenge... join us on the panel...
